Credit Scores and Debt: The Dark Side of Financial Freedom.
-”Credit: the magic word that can either open doors or slam them shut in your face. It’s the adult equivalent of getting a bad grade on your report card, but instead of being grounded, you could end up paying higher interest rates or being denied a loan. Fun being a failure, right?"
◦ - What is Credit?: "Credit is essentially a way for people to buy things they can’t afford with money they don’t have. It’s like the ultimate trust fall, but with money and believe me money is never loyal to one person as someday you will have more money and someday someone else will have more money than you. When you borrow, you’re promising to pay it back later—often with extra, thanks to that demon under your bed, interest that will keep haunting you unless you pay it. Spoiler: if you don’t pay it back, things can get ugly."
- Credit Scores Explained: "Your credit score is a three-digit number that basically tells lenders how much they should trust you. The higher the score, the more likely are your chances to get approved for loans or credit that too at better rates. A low score? Well, let’s just say you might be borrowing from your parents instead because the hour long lecture you would get for being un responsible is better than a higher interest rate. Well personally i think interest rates are modern day slavery and banks don’t discriminate between white, black, brown or Slavic or whatever you are.
- The Dangers of Debt: "Debt is like that toxic ex who’s fun to hang out with at first, but eventually starts dragging you down and eventually turn into a childhood trauma. So, the more debt you rack up, the harder it is to escape. And before you know it, you’re drowning in bills, paying off interest, and wondering how it all went so wrong. Spoiler alert: Because you didn’t read this post earlier.
-Building Good Credit: "Start small. Get a credit card, use it for small purchases, and pay it off in full each month. Or, if you’re not ready for that, become an authorized user on your parents’ card. Just make sure you stay responsible, or this could backfire spectacularly on your face.
